It would be the one after lying low for a couple of months. Or the one after a serious injury that put you out for months. Or for many who have sat down and allowed procrastination to pile layer upon layer of blub on, the workout that will initiate change… powerful change. Ok, let’s not get too ahead of myself. Whatever the reason, it’s an important one (without comparing to your first date, first love… yada yada, well… you get the idea)

For me, it’s a choice that was rather inevitable, given that my schedule at work was interfering with my Muay Thai sessions too much. And the sessions were fixed, and usually last 2-2.5 hours, which left me too tired and without any time to wrap up other stuff afterwards. Grueling torturous sessions which wasn’t working out well for my frame as there was little weight lifting involved and a lot of endurance based training. I needed something more simple, lasting no more than 45 minutes and could show me results through an evenly paced workout.

So I returned to gym. (one of the California Fitness branches was just a mild 15-20 minutes away from my office) Stepping back in there after such a long absence felt weird and familiar both at the same time. But after it kicks off, there’s no turning back. It’s been 2 days now, (I went back last night for a short cardio on the treadmill) and my pecs and upper back are still searing with pain from the power training session I opted for. Drinking down soy milk for recovery as I type this, all I can say with absolute conviction is that it absolutely rocks.

It rocks to get that first step started. There’s no immediate visual results to those around you, but you know because you feel it. Have you gotten off to that first workout? Whatever your reasons, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t hit the weights, the treadmill, the road. Put on those trainers… and like what my protein bottle slogan says,”Shut up & train.”

Welcome to ‘Fresh & Green!’, a personal blog dedicated to a great life of organic and healthy eating, exercise and earth friendly obsessions. A quick introduction – I’m Kenny, lives in Singapore, turning 26 and currently work as a graphic designer. On top of a long stint working in-house for a local pharmacy, I’ve been active in promoting and a big hearty fan of all things organic and natural. I love it that in recent years we’re looking very much towards preserving our Earth and the efforts of various government bodies to go green. I invest part of my portfolio in green companies as well, especially those geared towards recycling. (Hopefully they’ll also translate into good returns in the long run)

As someone who used to be very obese and with a host of genetic problems running in my family line such as diabetes, high blood pressure and growing up with a weak immune system, it’s been even more critical for me now as a working adult exposed to stress and a physically subdued lifestyle to watch my health even more. So hence the blog – I hope to bring to readers a wide variety of information and knowledge about products and a healthier life, though I’m by no means a fitness guru.

Just simple writing, honest feedback and experience, with a little pinch of humor. Feel free to leave comments! :)
